Knowledge Retention Challenges in Information Systems Development Teams

Information systems development (ISD) is an integral part of organizational agility in today’s competitive business environment. High turnover, agile ways working, and fluid work environments pose challenges for ISD. This paper explores the erosion knowledge retention (KR) arising from ISD staff churn a New Zealand-based financial organization aftermath major earthquake. In this exploratory study, authors develop causal model KR context, which articulates to consequences ineffective at routine exiting stages KR. The identifies four challenges—coordination complexity, insufficient resources retention, attention slow replacement handover processes—that can affect loss when fall into disarray. study also reveals that role stress reduced reinforce cycle loss.
